ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team finished 17th at the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga., aftershooting a final round score of 337 on Sunday, April 1.
Duke continued its hot play, winning the tournament with a three-round score of 902, while host Georgia was 11 strokes behind insecond place. Blue Devil Kalen Anderson shot a 221 to take individual honors, pushing yesterday’s leader, Randi Meadows of Texas,into second place after shooting a final round score of 80.
Sophomore Rachel Lester led the UK squad in 48th place with a 242, while junior Towa Okiyama landed in 55th place with her total of244. Senior Jenny Throgmorton and junior Kristen Pepe tied for 86th place, each with a tournament tally of 255. Sophomore KellyAnders rounded out the UK roster with a score of 256, tying her for 89th place.
The Lady Kats return to action next weekend, April 6-8, when they travel to Greensboro, N.C., to participate in the Bryan NationalCollegiate Tournament. The event will be played on the Bryan Park Golf Course and an 8 a.m. shotgun start is scheduled for Friday’sopening round.
