With rain threatening throughout the day, the University of Kentucky men’s golf team finished the first two rounds of the Johnny Owens Invitational, where it stands in 9th place after carding a 597.

The annual tournament, which takes place at Kearney Hills Golf Links, saw senior Wes Furnish shoot his lowest round of the spring season with a 71. Furnish is currently in a tie for sixth-place with his two-round total of 144.

Other UK scores included senior Pat Kelly and sophomore Andy Dustman in a tie for 40th place with a pair of 151s, senior Ryan Wilson with a 155 and junior John Beckett with a 156.

Miami University sits atop the leader board after the opening day with a team total of 578. The Redhawks’ Adam Speirs is leading the field with his 5-under par 139.

Action concludes tomorrow with the final round beginning at 8:00 a.m.
