ATHENS, Ga. – Sophomore Rachel Lester finished the first round of the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic tied for 27th place after shooting a 6-over-par 78. The Wildcats are currently in 17th place in the team standings.
Also contributing to the team score for Kentucky was junior Towa Okiyama, who shot an 82 on the first day of competition, earning her a share of 55th place. Senior Jenny Throgmorton is tied for 69th place after shooting an 84 in the first round, while Kelly Anders and Kristen Pepe are both tied for 88th place, shooting 87s in the first round.
Duke University leads the team standings after one round, while four individuals are tied for first: Sarah Johnston of Alabama, Randi Meadows of Texas and Candy Hannemann and V. Nirapathpongporn, both of Duke.
The second round of the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic will begin Saturday morning at 8 am from the first and 10th tees.
