The University of Kentucky softball team continues Southeastern Conference action as the Cats play host to the Ole Miss Rebels in a doubleheader Saturday, March 24, at the UK Softball Complex. The first game is set for noon, while the second game is slated for 2 p.m.

“We are focusing on bringing all three components of our game together,” UK coach Beth Kirchner said. “Those are pitching, defense, and offense. If we do that we will have a very good weekend.”

The Wildcats (15-17, 2-5 SEC) snapped a four-game losing streak in Knoxville last Wednesday by downing the Lady Vols 7-4 in the second game of a doubleheader. The Rebels (14-17, 1-2 SEC) also split a doubleheader last Wednesday. Ole Miss lost to Southeast Missouri 4-2 in the opener, then shut out SEMO 8-0 in the nightcap.

Last season the Cats were 1-1 against the host Rebels. Ole Miss leads the all-time series 5-3. Senior outfielder Leslie Kwiatkowski leads the Cats in hitting with a .356 batting average. Shortstop Angie Dal Pozzo lead the team with 25 RBI’s.

The Wildcats and Rebels will take the field again Sunday, March 25, for a 1 p.m. contest to close out the three-game series.
