The University of Kentucky hit a season-high four home runs, but was unable to avoid asweep at the hands of the University of Alabama, falling to the Crimson Tide 26-7 on Sundayafternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
Seth Morris belted two homers, his first multi-home run game as a Wildcat, and MorganEmbry and Beau Moore each added a round-tripper, but UK could not overcome a hot-hittingCrimson Tide club.
With the loss, Kentucky fell to 10-11, 2-4 in the Southeastern Conference. Alabama improvedto 16-7, 4-2 in conference play.
Trailing UA 1-0 in the second inning, Embry belted his first home run as a collegian, givingUK a 2-1 lead.
However, that lead would be short-lived as the Tide exploded for 10 runs in the third inning,sending 14 players to the plate.
Kentucky center fielder Beau Moore hit a solo round-tripper in the third, but the Cats strandedtwo other baserunners in the inning, leaving the score 11-3 .
Bama would add eight runs in the fifth, four coming on Aaron Clarks grand slam over theleft-center field wall. The Tide would tack on five more runs in the sixth frame.
Morris hit a solo blast in the fifth and then added his team-leading fifth round-tripper in theseventh. On the day, the sophomore right fielder drove in three Wildcat runs.
Clark led the UA attack, collecting six RBI on the day. Grant Redding went 4-for-7 on theafternoon en route to driving home five for the Tide.
B.J. Green (3-0) picked up the win for the Crimson Tide. Green went six innings, giving upfour earned runs while striking out four.
Rob Corrado (4-1) suffered his first loss of the season for the Wildcats who used a total ofseven pitchers on the afternoon.
The Wildcats recorded nine hits in comparison to 22 by the Crimson Tide. Both teamscommitted three errors.
The sweep marked Bamas first over UK since 1990.
UK will step out of conference when it hosts Belmont University on Tuesday, March 20, at 3p.m., at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
