Jeff Tolotti went 4-for-4, belted his first home run of the season and collected three RBI inleading the University of Kentucky baseball team past Tennessee-Martin 8-1 Wednesdayafternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
UK (10-8, 2-1 SEC) pushed four runs across the plate in the first inning and never trailed inthe game. The Wildcat offense racked up 12 hits, marking the fourth consecutive game thatthe Cats have reached double figures in the hit column.
Rob Corrado (4-0) picked up the win as he worked three innings, allowing no runs on two hitsand struck out four. Joel Gooch, Bryan Felkel, Seth Morris and Jon Hooker all pitched in relieffor the Wildcats. Gooch struck out a season-high six hitters in only 2 1/3 innings of work.Felkel added three strikeouts of his own in 1 2/3 frames.
UT-Martin (2-14) starter Justin Entrekin was tagged with the loss. Entrekin allowed eight runs(all earned) and nine hits in only five innings of work in falling to 1-3 on the season.
The Cats four-run first inning started with Beau Moore and Vince Harrison walking. After SethMorris reached on a fielders choice, Spencer Preston drove home Moore with an RBI single.Gordon Tylers sacrifice fly scored another UK run and Jeff Tolottis double scored the thirdand fourth Wildcat runs.
UK added a run in the fifth when Vince Harrison hit an opposite-field home run, his third of theseason, over the right field wall, putting the Cats up 5-0.
UT-Martin threatened in the sixth, loading the bases with only one out, but Felkel got BartHammack and Simon Auter to strike out, ending the Skyhawks chances.
The Wildcats extended their lead in the sixth with three insurance runs. Tolotti led-off theinning with a solo home run to right-center field. Brad Pickrell and Harrison each picked up anRBI with singles, putting the Big Blue up 8-0.
UT-Martin scored its lone run in the eighth with Brian Jordan driving home Brad Meadows.
Harrison extended his hitting streak to nine games, going 2-for-4 on the afternoon. CalebBrock saw his 10-game hitting streak come to an end. The Wildcats host the University of Alabama in a three-game series starting on Friday at 3p.m., at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
