AMES, Iowa – Running the fourth-fastest collegiate time in the nation so far this season, the Universityof Kentucky mens distance medley relay team broke a school record at the Iowa State Classic Trackand Field Meet on Friday, Feb. 9. The time of 9:42.67 cut nearly three seconds off the old UK mark.
The quartet of sophomores Chad Johnson, Jack Morgan and Thomas Morgan and freshmanJames Doaty ran with purpose in establishing the new record. Doaty, who leads the team in the 800meters and was a high school national 800-meter champion, ran a personal-best split of 1:48.70.
The Cats return to the track on Saturday, Feb. 10, for day two of the Iowa State Classic. Actiongets underway for UK with the mens mile at 11:13 a.m.
