(Feb. 9, 2001) — The University of Kentucky mens golf team will open its spring season on Saturday, February 10, when it travels to Gainesville, Fla., for the 2001 Sun Trust Invitational. Action is set to begin at 8 a.m.
The Wildcats are coming off of a promising fall season which found them in the hunt for several high team and individual finishes. Senior Wes Furnish and junior John Beckett turned in impressive performances in the fall to help UK to seventh-place finishes in the G. Gunby Jordan Intercollegiate and the Michigan Invitational.
