media__sports_w-tennis_RookledgeII-1437505349740.jpgThe University of Kentucky women’s tennis doubles team of Brooke Skeen and Lauren Rookledge took another step towardclaiming the doubles championship at the 2001 Georgia Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 21, when the pair advanced to the final match.

Skeen and Rookledge cruised past highly-seeded Anne Nguyen and Tina Hojnik of Georgia 8-4 in their semifinal matchup. Thetandem will battle Zsofi Golopencza and Michaela Kratochvilova of Armstrong Atlantic on Monday for the title.This marks the second consecutive year that Skeen has played for the doubles championship. In 2000, Skeen, along with partnerLeigh Bradwell, secured runner-up honors after being defeated in the final match.

Skeen and fellow Wildcat Jill Buckley will also play in the semifinals of the singles consolation bracket on Monday. Skeen will faceJamie Wong of Georgia Tech, while Buckley will go head-to-head with Simone Kung of Illinois.
