The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will play the first of five straight roadgames in the month of December when it travels to No. 19/18 Xavier on Wednesday, Dec. 6at 7 p.m. in the Cintas Center. UK will also face Louisville, Florida International, Miami (Fla.)and Cincinnati before returning home on Dec. 30.

The Cats (2-3) look to get back on track after dropping to No. 6/5 Purdue on Friday, 87-67,in Lexington.

“Playing on the road is tough, but this will be a good challenge for us,” UK Coach BernadetteMattox said. “When we enter the SEC race, we will travel for two days, play at home, travelagain. We have to get used to not sleeping in our beds and adjusting to hostile environments. Itcan only make us better players.”

The Cats are 0-1 all-time versus the Musketeers after falling, 68-67, last season in theMemorial Coliseum. Xavier hit a free throw with only one second remaining on the clock togive UK only its second loss in the month of December.Four Wildcats are averaging in double-digits this season. Rookie SeSe Helm leads the waywith 13.8 points per game while junior LaTonya McDole averages 12.6 ppg. FreshmanStephanie Stoglin and sophomore Rita Adams round out the scoring column with 12.2 and 10.0ppg, respectively.

After tonights game the Cats will face intrastate rival Louisville on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. inthe second game of a double-header. The U of L mens team will meet Western Kentucky inthe first game at 2 p.m.

The last time UK defeated a ranked opponent was last year versus No. 5 Auburn. The Catsupset the Tigers on Jan. 6, 2000 in Memorial Coliseum, 71-69.
