(Nov. 9, 2000) — The University of Kentucky gymnastics squad has announced its schedule for the 2001 season on November 9.
Traditionally one of the toughest schedules in the nation, this year’s edition boasts four of the top six teams from 2000 and eight to the top 16. Highlighting the 2001 campaign are home meets against Georgia and Michigan, which finished third and sixth at the 2000 NCAA Championships, while they travel to take on No. 4 finisher Nebraska and No. 5 Alabama.
“As usual, we have only top-ranked teams on our schedule,” head coach Leah Little said. “We try to provide our fans the chance to see the best gymnasts in the country right here in Lexington.”
The GymKats begin action with a Blue/White scrimmage on Friday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Nutter Field House on the campus of the University of Kentucky. The regular season gets underway when UK host the Tigers of LSU on Jan. 12.
