The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team will face the LSU Tigers in the first round of the Southeastern Conference tournament on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 2:30 p.m. at the Georgia Women’s Soccer Stadium. Kentucky is undefeated in the series with the Tigers, 5-0, and won the teams’ meeting earlier in the season, 3-1.
Kentucky (14-5, 6-3 SEC) finished third in the SEC Eastern Division in the regular season. Last weekend, the squad completed its regular season by defeating Butler, 1-0, and being defeated by Indiana, 3-1. Keri Boyce continues to lead the Cats with 30 points with 11 goals and eight assists.
Following close behind her are Annie Gage and Elizabeth Ramsey. Both have eight goals and 10 assists for 26 points.
Kentucky’s defense has held its opponents to only 70 points and 140 shots as compared to the Cats’ 165 points and 363 shots.
The Wildcats have already broken three single-season team records in 2000. The team has accumulated 165 points, 63 assists, and 363 shots. Jen Reese has 83 career starts and needs just one more to tie for second on UK’s all-time list for games started.
LSU (15-5, 5-4 SEC) is on a two-game win streak, having defeated Vanderbilt, 1-0, and Tulane, 2-1. Kara Dean leads the Tigers in shots (61) and goals (15). Leading the squad in assists are Ashley Mitnick and Rachel Cohen with seven apiece. Goalkeepers Bonnie Otillo and Bryna Warnock both have a goals against average of less than one. Otillo’s is 0.98 while Warnock’s is 0.71.
