University of Kentucky tennis senior Edo Bawono continued to ride his hot streak in Saturday’s action at the Arizona State Invitational in Tempe,Ariz., winning three matches and advancing to Sunday’s semi-finals.

Bawono, who remains undefeated in the fall season (11-0) opened action of Friday, but his first round matchup with Arizona’s Bruon Arapovicwas suspended due to rain. When the two took to the court on Saturday, Bawono wasted no time in eliminating Arapovic, 6-1, 6-3. In the secondround, Bawono faced Clemson’s Micah Thompson and downed his opponent easily, 6-4, 6-3. Bawono’s quarterfinal matchup pitted him againstArizona State’s Nic Dubey, but due to the time change and the delay in play, results were not available at press time.

Also seeing action on Saturday was UK junior Gustav Pousette, who dropped his second round match to Matt Klinger of Arizona State, 7-5, 6-1.Pousette made his way to the second round after defeating San Diego’s Jason Pongsrikul, 7-5, 6-4.

“It’s amazing to me how well Edo is playing during this fall season,” Coach Dennis Emery said. “If he continues in hitting his stride like he hasbeen, the sky is the limit for him.”

If Bawono advances, semi-final action gets underway at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, and the finals will take place in the afternoon.
