University of Kentucky tennis junior Gustav Pousette advanced to the second round of the Arizona State Inviational tournament on Friday, Oct. 27 in Tempe, Ariz., before play was suspended due to rain. Senior Edo Bawono was still playing his first round match with Arizona’s Bruno Arapovic when play was called off.
Pousette claimed his first victory of the tournament in a hard fought match with San Diego’s Jason Pongsrikul, 7-5, 6-4. He is slated to face Arizona State’s Matt Klinger when play resumes.
The tournament, which features players from 11 different schools, is being played at the Robson Player Facility at the Whiteman Tennis Center. The tournament includes a main draw of 32 players and a consolation bracket for those defeated in the first round.
Action is scheduled to continue through Sunday.
