The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team finished strong at the Southeastern Conference Fall Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 22. Wildcats Lauren Rookledge and Amy Trefethen both ended their weekend with straight set victories in the A flight consolation bracket.

Rookledge, a junior from South Africa, notched a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Celia Matthew of Alabama while Trefethen, a sophomorefrom Sarasota, Fla., downed LSU senior Fernado Tsucomoto 7-5, 6-3.Sophomore Jill Buckley also saw action, falling to 98th-ranked Vilmarie Castellvi of Tennessee 7-5, 6-2.

“I am very pleased with the performances this weekend,” Coach Mark Guilbeau said. “The players are pleasedas well. Lauren, Amy and Jill all gave a great effort and I think they are leaving here with a great deal ofconfidence.”

The women’s tennis team will be back in action on Nov. 3, when they travel to Winston Salem, N.C., toparticipate in the Southeast Regional Qualifiers for National Indoors.
