HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team dropped its final Mid-American Conference contest with a4-0 defeat at Marshall on Sunday, Oct. 22.
The Cats (8-6, 4-2-0 MAC) played an offensively uncharacteristic match in which they only got off eight shots, with only threeon goal. They created a couple of chances to score but were not quite able to finish. Defensively, they limited Marshall (12-3-1,4-2-0 MAC) to only eight shots as well, but half of them scored goals.
The Herd found the open net for the first time in only the sixth minute when Jeremy Albrecht received a Dave Spaulding pass forthe 1-0 lead. UK played tough the remainder of the first stanza, but then surrendered three second-half goals.
UK returns to action in the Ohio State Nike Classic, Oct. 27-29. The Cats face the 20th-ranked Buckeyes on Friday, Oct. 27,and then match up against No. 15 Penn State on Sunday, Oct. 29.
