The University of Kentucky women’s golf team will travel to Greenville, S.C. this weekend,Oct. 20-22, to participate in the Lady Paladin Invitational. The tournament, which features 22 teamsfrom across the nation, will be played at the Furman University Golf Course.
The Kats are coming off a strong performance last weekend at the UT-Mercedes BenzCollegiate Championship, where sophomore Rachel Lester had a career-best finish with her 7thplace final standing. Lester had a career-low 71 in the first round to lead all golfers following theopening day of competition. The Lady Kats finished 14th overall in the tournament, which Duke wonwith a score of 890.
“We’re looking forward to getting back out on the course after the great showing that Rachelhad in Knoxville last weekend,” Coach Bettie Lou Evans said. “We’re really hoping for a great teameffort this weekend.”
Wake Forest captured the Lady Paladin team title in 1999 with a three-day total of 892, while TexasChristian’s Angela Stanford won the individual title with a three-round score of 216.
Action gets under way on Friday morning, with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
