The University of Kentucky women’s golf team finished 11th at the SoutheasternConference/Atlantic Coast Conference Shootout in Destin, Fla., this weekend. JuniorTowa Okiyama led the Lady Kats, finishing in a tie for 19th place after a 1-over-par 72performance on Sunday. Okiyama tallied a final score of 234 for the three round event.
Auburn continued building on the weekend’s earlier success, posting a 309 total onSunday and winning the tournament with a score of 56-over-par 908. Celeste Troche ofAuburn took top individual honors with her three-day total of 1-under-par 212.
Other Kentucky scores include junior Kristen Pepe who tied for 35th with her total of242, and sophomore Kelly Anders’ total of 248 was enough to tie her for 43rd place.
Rounding out the UK scores was senior Jenny Throgmorton with a total of 251 andfreshman Eva Gessner, who tallied a score of 267.
The Lady Kats are back in action next weekend, Oct. 13-15, when they travel toKnoxville, Tenn. to participate in the Women’s Intercollegiate Golf Tournament.
