The University of Kentucky Softball team has been ranked 13th nationally in an All-Academic team poll sponsored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association/Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex All-Academic team poll.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association determined the rankings based upon the cumulative team grade-point average that member coaches submitted to the association.

“We are very proud of our team grade-point average and our 13th-place standing,” UK coach Beth Kirchner said. “It is nice to see our players rewarded for hard academic work.”

While the team has been ranked in the top 25 in the past, this is its highest ranking. In addition, the Cats were the highest-ranked Southeastern Conference team in the rankings.

Kentucky, which had its best season last year winning the SEC Eastern Division, will play host to a Fall Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 30, to conclude its fall season. The first pitch will be thrown at 2 p.m. as Georgetown College takes on Morehead State. Kentucky will face Georgetown at 4 p.m. and Morehead State at 6 p.m.
