PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (Sept. 3, 2000) — The University of Kentucky men’s golf team claimed seventh place amid heavy rain and morning fog to claim seventh place at the shortened G. Gunby Jordan Intercollegiate golf tournament at Callaway Gardens Resort on Sunday, Sept. 3.
Playing only 27 holes due to the bad weather, the Cats shot a 443, 11-over-par, to finish only five strokes behind first-place UNC Charlotte.
Leading the way for UK, John Beckett tied for ninth-place honors with a one-over-par 109, seven strokes behind top finisher Scott Shelton of Mississippi State. Following closely behind Beckett were Wes Furnish with a 110 and Andy Dustman with a 111.
