EAST LANSING, Mich. (Aug. 27, 2000) — The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team finished its preseason undefeated after a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Michigan State on Sunday, Aug. 27.

In a physical, foul-plagued contest, the Cats were unable to get the offense going, registering only seven shots on the afternoon. Although the Spartans were able to control the ball and get off 18 shots, with 14 in the last 75 minutes, UK goalkeeper Brian O’Leary needed only four saves to notch his third shutout of the preseason. O’Leary played all 300 minutes for the Cats during exhibition play.

Kentucky finished the preseason 2-0-1 and now prepares to face the Louisville Cardinals in its regular season opener. The action gets underway on Friday, Sept. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Cardinal Park Soccer Stadium.
