Sarah Carter swims to fourth place finish in 200 backstroke.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Nov. 21, 1999) — The University ofKentucky women’s swimming and diving teamcaptured a third place finish overall at the 1999Nike Cup Invitational.
Freshman Lisa Beavers led the Cats on the final dayof competition with a third place finish in the finalsof the 100-yard freestyle. Beavers posted a time of52.19, while teammates Jenny Priester, KelleyMiller, and Sarah Hoppe finished eighth, 12th, and13th respectively.

Other standout performances on the women’s sideincluded a sixth place finish by Jen Clifford in the200 breaststroke and seventh place finish byfreshman Emily Johnston in the 200 butterfly. EmilyBuske placed ninth overall in the 200 butterfly.
In the 400 freestyle relay, the UK women’s relayteam comprised of Priester, Hoppe, Tracy Sullivan,and Beavers finished fourth.
On the men’s side, UK finished sixth overall.Distance freestyle specialist David Kuendigrecorded a fifth place finish in the 1,650 freestyle.
Freshman Aaron Cuker placed seventh in the 200breaststroke, while freshman Matt Nilson took home a ninth place finish inthe 200 butterfly.
