CHARLESTON, SC — The University ofKentucky men’s and women’s swimmingteams each won their third dual meet in asmany days on Thursday, as the Wildcatsquads swept the College of Charleston inCharleston, S.C. Jaime Siegele and AnnabelKosten each won two events to pace theUK women to a 141-113 win, while MattHampton claimed two victories to lead theUK men to a 138-119 victory.
Siegele won the 400 freestyle and 50freestyle with times of 4:30.05 and 31.37,respectively. Kosten won a second 50 freestyle and the 100 individualmedley with marks of 26.82 and 1:08.43. Brooke Adams won the 200individual medley in 2:34.76, while Melissa Olson added a victory in the 100freestyle with a time of 1:00.74. Stephanie Moll won the 50 freestyle with amark of 35.00 and Ellen Strange posted a victory in the 100 butterfly(1:05.05) to aid the UK cause. Jenny Priester closed out the UK victorytotal with a 2:14.11 win in the 200 freestyle.
Hampton won the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.15, while also winning the200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.33. Shaun Zitani was first in the 400freestyle (4:19.13) and Kevin Chipman won the 200 individual medley(2:18.64). Greg Hengel won the 50 freestyle in 28.38, while J.D. Pulliamwon the second 50 free heat in 25.89. Todd DeSorbo posted a win in the100 freestyle with a time of 55.81, with Brian Plitnick winning the 100individual medley in 1:00.14. Jarrod Rush won the 50 butterfly with a time of28.01.
The UK swimming teams continue action on Jan. 16, as they play host toSEC rival LSU at the Lancaster Aquatics Center on the UK campus.
