KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (October 18, 1998) — The University of Kentucky women’s soccer teamscored three goals in a seven-minute stretch in the second half to defeatTennessee, 3-1, on Sunday.
With both teams scoreless six minutes into the second half, Tennessee’s TaraMinnax netted a shot at the 51:37 mark. But UK’s Jen McMaster scored anunassisted goal seven minutes later to even the score, 1-1.
McMaster struck again at the 65:21 mark to give the Cats the lead, 2-1.Only 27 seconds later, UK junior Brooke Hergesell netted a shot off anassistfrom All-SEC candidate Carrie Staber, giving the Cats a 3-1 victory.
With the win, UK improves to 7-5-2 overall, 4-2 in the SoutheasternConference. The Vols drop to 8-7, 3-3 in the SEC. UK next sees action onFriday, Oct. 23, when the Cats travel to LSU to face the Tigers.
