LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville’s Sharon Bellamy scored 24 points to leadthe Lady Cardinals over Kentucky 80-62 in Louisville’s Freedom Hall onWednesday.

UK down by 10 (43-33) at half time struggled with Louisville the entiregame, losing the battle of the boards 42-31. The Wildcats (9-9, 2-4) shotonly 39.7 percent from the field and allowed the Lady Cards (9-8, 4-2) 20points off their 16 turnovers. Kentucky never owned a lead over Louisville.

“Louisville played an excellent game tonight,” UK Coach Bernadette Mattoxsaid. “Our defense was really inconsistent. I am very disappointed that ourplayers did not come out fired up. They (Louisville) came out strong and theydeserved to win this ball game.”

Four UK players scored in double digits with Tiffany Wait leading the packwith 21. Jaye Barnes added 15 points and Kim Denkins and LauraMeadows netted 12 and ten points respectively. Along with Bellamy, JillMorton (18 points) and Roscell Bullock (12 points) added double figurescoring for Louisville.

After its four home-game stand, UK will be on the road this weekend whenit travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to take on the Crimson Tide. Tip-off is slatedfor 8 p.m. in Coleman Coliseum.
