Men's Soccer

Chris Klein and Dema Kovalenko each scored a hat trick for the No.1-ranked Indiana men’s soccer team, as the Hoosiers claimed a 9-0 victoryover the Kentucky Wildcats.

Indiana scored five goals in the first half and four in the second. Senior ChrisKlein opened up the scoring for the Hoosiers, netting an 18-yard shot fourminutes into the game. He scored again 19 minutes later on an assist byDema Kovalenko.

Kovalenko scored at the 27:46 mark off a cross from Klein. Then MattFundenberger and Kovalenko each scored a goal to round out the first-halfscoring for the Hoosiers.

In the second half, Klein and Kovalenko both scored their third goals of thegame. J.T. Cerroni and Fundernberger also recorded goals for the Hoosiers.

Indiana out shot the Wildcats 22-4 as UK failed to record a shot on goal inthe second half.

With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 5-3-1 on the season. No. 1 Indianaimproves to 8-0 on the season.

Kentucky next sees action on Sunday, Sept. 28, as they face BelmontUniversity at the UK Soccer Complex. The game is part of a doubleheader,as the men’s game will follow the UK women’s soccer game against Georgia.The match is also part of UK men’s Soccer Alumni Weekend.
