KANSAS CITY – The UK men’s soccer team gave up two goals, onewithin the opening minute, against Missouri-Kansas City to drop its firstgame of the season. Only 55 seconds into the game, UMKC junior EricWhite scored from 22 yards away to put the Kangaroos up 1-0.

Just over a minute later, the Wildcats tied the score on a goal by senior BillyDwyer, assisted by sophomore Bryan DePriest. The score was still 1-1 athalftime. White scored again in the second half to give UMKC a 2-1 lead.Despite 13 shots in the half, UK failed to score again.

“Of course, we are disappointed with the loss,” UK head coach Ian Collinssaid. “But we’ll take this game and learn from it.”

Goalkeeper Chris West had six saves. UK allowed only three shots on goalthe entire game. The loss gives UK a 0-1 record. They host the WesternKentucky Hilltoppers on Tuesday at the UK Soccer Complex.
