The Kentucky Wildcats are certainly showing signs of progress –one half at a time. After struggling from the opening seconds atFlorida last week, the Wildcats strung together two strongquarters of football before falling to heavy-favorite and No. 13ranked Alabama in Tuscaloosa, 35-7.
A Billy Jack Haskins 41 yard second quarter touchdown runknotted the game at 7-7, which was the halftime score.
However, the Crimson Tide scored 28 unanswered points in thethird quarter to take control of the game.
The Wildcats stayed close in the first half behind Haskinstouchdown — who was a late addition at quarterback to thestarting lineup — and strong defense (the Wildcats recoveredthree Alabama fumbles).
The Crimson Tides pressure proved to be too much for theWildcats as they turned the ball over twice inside their 20yard, resulting in two Alabama touchdowns. The Wildcats specialteams gave up a punt return to add insult to injury.
Haskins led all Wildcats with 54 yards rushing. Ray McLaurincontributed 25 yards. The Wildcats mustered only 124 net yardson offense, compared to Alabamas 358.
The Wildcats host South Carolina next Saturday at CommonwealthStadium. Gametime is slated for 7 p.m. Check back this week asUKSports brings you all the gameday information.
