Coach Warren Lipka

Head Women’s Coach

The coaches at the University of Kentucky, Warren Lipka and Ian Collins,will team up this year with a combined 30 years of experience.In just eight years as head coach of the women’s soccer team, Warren Lipka,the 1999 Southeastern Conference and Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year,has guided women’s soccer at Kentucky from a club sport to a program in thenational spotlight. In 1995, Lipka led Wildcats to their first NCAATournament appearance and SEC title. The Wildcats also made an NCAAappearance in 1996 and 1998. This past season, UK enjoyed one of its finestseasons ever, winning a team record 15 straight games and earning a top 16seed in the NCAA Tournament.

While at UK, Lipka has coached seven Regional All-Americans, 12 All-SECplayers, 29 SEC Academic Honor Roll members and an SEC Player of the Year.In 1999, two of Lipka’s players, Keri Boyce and Allison Peppers, were namedSEC Freshman of the Year and second-team All-American respectively.As a player, Lipka was an all-state and All-American from Lindbergh HighSchool in St. Louis, Mo. He attended the University of South Carolina,where he was named 1985 adidas Goalkeeper of the Year, and also to SoccerAmerica’s All-American team. He played five years professionally in theNational Professional Soccer League and was selected to the 1990-91 seasonall-star team.

Coach Lipka currently holds a “A” license from the United States SoccerFederation (USSF), National Soccer Coaches Association Premier Diploma andworks with the USSF in licensing programs throughout the state.

Coach Ian Collins

Head Men’s Coach

Ian Collins, the head men’s soccer coach, will serve as Camp Coordinator.With 15 years of NCAA Division I coaching experience, Coach Collins bringsa wealth of knowledge to the UK Soccer Camps. In six years at UK, Collinshas guided the Cats to its first Mid-American Conference championship andbirth in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament.

Collins was selected MAC and East Regional Men’s Soccer Coach of the Yearin 1999 by his fellow coaches. In 1997, Collins was also named the MACCoach of the Year.

At UK, Collins has coached 15 Regional All-Americans and 18 All-MACplayers, while two of Collins’ athletes have been named the MAC Newcomer ofthe Year. In 1999, Collins’ squad received the prestigious NSCAA CollegeTeam Academic Award for a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Eighteen of Collins’players have been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.Currently, Coach Collins holds an “A” license from the United States SoccerFederation and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America PremierDiploma.

Coach Collins also has a stellar playing career. He was a member of theEngland U-18 National Team and also represented his country on sixoccasions. He attended Crew and Alsager College in Crewe, England.

The University of Kentucky Soccer Camp is designed tochallenge you and improve your abilities as a soccer player. Training willbe designed to help you not only as an individual, but also in team aspectsof the game. We offer technical, tactical, and functional training everyday.

Our staff of college coaches, outstanding club and high school coaches, andcurrent collegiate players offers you intense individual training sessions.The skills you will learn at each session can immediately be put into usein the evening matches. You will be encouraged to apply what you havelearned.

For the Team
Making you competitive * $390.00 * ($50.00 deposit)We welcome all types of teams comprised of 12 or more players to our camps.One coach may attend free and receive lesson plans, clinics and chalk talkswith the UK coaches. Teams are housed together, train together and competein our Camp League which features matches every night.* All applications must be received together to receive discounts.

Goalkeeper Training
We offer specialized goalkeeper training at all sessions of Camp. Webelieve goalkeepers develop best with a blend of specialized training ingoalkeeping fundamentals and the game experience and tactical demands ourleague competition provides.All goalkeeper sessions will be under the direction of UK goalkeeper coachRob Johnson.

Camp Deposit
A deposit of $50.00 for residential and $25.00 for day campers is requiredwith each application and will be subtracted from the total fee, but isnon-refundable.

Day Camp

Day camp is geared for the younger player looking to develop his or herskills at any level. The Wildcat Day Camp brings together the idea ofhaving fun and learning the different technical and tactical aspects ofsoccer. We will help you develop as a player in many aspects of the game,including: Passing/Receiving, Finishing, Heading, Small-sided andFull-sided games. We invite you to join us this summer for a challengingweek of soccer.

All Day campers will receive a NIKE camp T-shirt.

Soccer Stadium/Camp Facilities
A new era in Kentucky soccer began Oct. 24, 1996 with the opening of thenew UK soccer stadium. In its short time, the stadium has played host tosome of the finest soccer the nation has to offer, including the 1996 SECWomen’s Soccer Tournament and the 1998 Mid American Conference Tournament.The stadium features an international-sized Bermuda grass playing field,metal bleachers for seating up to 2,500, press box, and locker rooms(onsite).

Nutter Indoor Training Facility
All campers will have an opportunity to play in the soccer stadium, as wellas the $8 million Indoor Nutter Field House, which was the site for the2000 UK Winter Training Camp.

Athletic Trainers
A certified training staff is provided by the UK Soccer Camp. Trainers areavailable to all campers 24 hours a day for anymedical assistance.

Registration
Registration location and directions to the dorms and fields will be sentto you prior to the start of your camp session.Day Campers: All campers need to register at 8 a.m. on each Monday at thenew UK Soccer Complex off Alumni Drive. There will be someone available fordrop off beginning at 7:45 a.m. and again for pick-up until 12:15 p.m.Residential Campers: All campers (including commuters) must check-in duringregistration held each Sunday from 12-3 p.m. in the Blanding-Kirwan Complex.

Check-Out
Camp ends after closing ceremonies on the last day of each session. Check-out for all residential campers (including commuters) will take place inthe dormitories on Friday after closing ceremonies – between 11 a.m. andnoon.

Accommodations
All rooms are air-conditioned. If you have a definite roommate preference,please send your application as early as possible.If you don’t request a roommate, you will be assigned one.

Cancellations
The deposit of $50.00 for the residential camp or $25.00 for the day campis subtracted from the total fee, but is non-refundable for any reason.

Medical Form
In order to participate in camp, a copy of a physical exam form must beprovided prior to registration. This form must be signed and dated within12 months of the camp by a physician. Campers may bring the UK Medical Form(completed by a physician) that will accompany the acceptance letter.

Seminar on College Recruiting
The University of Kentucky Soccer Camp will provide a seminar for allplayers interested in pursuing a college playing career. The seminar willdiscuss the intricacies of college recruiting such as the different levelsof play in college soccer, how to make college coaches aware of you, whatscholarships and financial aid may be available, and some information aboutcollege admissions. The seminar will be followed by a question-and-answersession.
