LEXINGTON, Kty. – Sophomore Gustav Pousette, a member of UK’s men’s tennis team, was named to the 2000 GTE Academic All-District IV Second Team on May 23. He has earned a 4.00 grade point average in his two years at Kentucky while majoring in foreign language and international economics.

Pousette, who hails from Kolmarden, Sweden, compiled a 28-14 overall record for the 1999-2000 season. He won nine consecutive matches including wins over members of No. 38 Notre Dame, No. 8 UCLA and No. 4 Duke. Pousette went 2-0 at the Southeastern Conference Championships in April.

In doubles action, Pousette and fellow Swede Johan Hesoun were ranked in the top 30 for the majority of the season. Pousette also teamed with Johan Grunditz, also from Sweden. The duo earned a 5-9 record.

This spring, Pousette earned a spot on Kentucky’s NCAA Championship roster for the second year in a row. The Wildcats competed against Indiana in the first round of the tournament, falling to IU, 4-1.
