LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky softball player Leslie Kwiatkowski has been namedto the first-team GTE Academic All-District IV University Division softballteam by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America(CoSIDA) within the district.
Kwiatkowski, a junior majoring in accounting, will appear on the nationalballot for the GTE Academic All-American along with the other 11 first-teamall-district selections. The South Bend, Ind., native was a second-teamselection in 1999. She broke six UK single-season marks this year andearned first-team All-Southeastern Conference honors.
Sophomores Angie Dal Pozzo and Beth Fogle were named to the GTE AcademicAll-District second-team.
Dal Pozzo, a native of Livingston, Ill., is majoring in pre-physicaltherapy. Dal Pozzo started in 57 games for the Cats and hit .287 with ninedoubles and a home run.
Majoring in marketing, Fogle hit .315 this season, third best on the teamand stole 13 bases, while tying the UK single-season mark for sacrificebunts (11).
