LEXINGTON, Kty. – Freshman catcher Lyndsey Angus was named the SEC Player of the Week todayby the league office. This is the first time a member of the UK softballteam has been named the league’s top player since the program began in 1997.
“Lyndsey has performed well all year long,” Kirchner said. “For her tohave a breakout weekend against Florida shows what we have known about herall along.”
Angus, a native of Leominster, Mass., went 9-for-14 (.643) with five RBI,a double, three home runs, and scored eight runs in helping lead the Catsto a 5-0 record last week. In UK’s 11-3 win against Western Kentucky onThursday, April 20, Angus hit her first career home run, a solo shot togive the Cats’ a 1-0 lead in the first inning. She went deep twice in theFlorida four-game series and recorded a pair of three-hit games.
