STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Kentucky men’s tennis team lost in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference tournament to second-seed Florida, 4-2. Things looked good for the Wildcats after taking the doubles point, but Florida proved itself by claiming four singles victories to take the match.

While the doubles team of Johan Grunditz and Gustav Pousette fell to the sixth-ranked team of Jeff Morrison and Nathan Overholser, 8-4, the other teams were victorious. At the No. 2 position, Edo Bawono and Johan Hesoun defeated Olivier Levant and Justin O’Neal, 9-7, and Carlos Drada and Reven Stephens topped the team of Marcos Asse and Dylan Mann, 8-4, at the No. 3 position.

Heading into singles, the Cats looked strong. No. 82 Hesoun won the first set at No. 1 against 1999 singles national champion Jeff Morrison, 6-3. Morrison put up a tough fight, forcing the second set to a tiebreaker. Morrison was the eventual winner of the match, 6-3, 7-6(3), 6-2. Gustav Pousette earned the Cats’ lone singles victory, defeating Olivier Levant, 6-0, 6-3, and upping his record to 22-7 for the spring.
