KILLEN, Ala. – The Georgia men’s golf team shot a two-under-par 286 Friday to take the first round lead in the Southeastern Conference Men s Golf Championships, held at the Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club.

The participating teams will play an 18-hole round on Saturday and will finish the championship with an 18-hole round on Sunday.

Auburn is four shots behind the Bulldogs, with a 290. Mississippi State is in third place, with a 297, followed by LSU and Tennessee tied in fourth at 301 and Ole Miss is sixth at 304.

Alabama is seventh at 305, followed by Arkansas and Vanderbilt tied at 306, Florida is 10th at 307, South Carolina 11th at 308 and Kentucky rounds out the field at 316.

Individually, four golfers are tied for the lead, shooting a two-under-par 70. The list includes Alex Rocha of Mississippi State, Brandt Snedeker of Vanderbilt, John Humphries of LSU and Michael Morrison of Georgia.

Auburn s Roland Thatcher is alone in fifth place with a one-under-par 70.

Georgia took the first round lead by having four of its five golfers shoot par-or-better. Following Morrison at 70, was the trio of Nick Cassini, Erik Compton and Bryant Odom, who each shot 72. No other team in the field had four of its five golfers at par-or-better. In the SEC Championship, only the top four of the five scores count towards the team total.

The teams will tee-off again Saturday, starting at 8 a.m. CT at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club.
