LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s tennis team will play its final two regular-season tennis matches this weekend when it plays host to Louisiana State and South Carolina on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
The Cats enter the final weekend of competition before next week’s Southeastern Conference tournament with a record of 11-11 (4-5 SEC), their most recent win coming against Alabama on April 9, 6-1. Sophomore Gustav Pousette and junior Edo Bawono have contributed strong matches this season. Pousette currently posts a 25-12 singles record (7-2 SEC), while Bawono is 24-15 (5-3 SEC). Senior Johan Hesoun, ranked 82nd in the nation, has also improved over the course of the season, picking up wins over three of his last five opponents in singles action.
The Cats play eighth-ranked LSU on Friday at 6 p.m. and 51st-ranked South Carolina on Sunday at noon. Both matches will be held at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.
