LEXINGTON, Kty. – University of Kentucky women’s basketball seniors Erica Jacksonand Shantia Owens have been invited to participate in the 2000 WNBAPre-Draft Camp to be held at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill.,on April 13-15.
The Pre-Draft Camp offers WNBA coaches and general managers theopportunity to evaluate the skills of prospective players in advance tothe annual Draft on April 25.
Both Jackson and Owens were personally invited to the camp aftertwo impressive seasons at Kentucky. Jackson (Lexington, Ky.), a 5-6point guard, led the Cats in assists and steals both years as a Wildcatwhile averaging 11.1 points per game. Owens (Newark, New Jersey), a 6-4center who started in all but one game in her two-year career, led theCats in rebounding and blocked shots both seasons, averaging 7.6rebounds and 9.2 points per games as a senior.
“It is a tremendous honor and opportunity to be invited to thepre-draft camp,” UK Coach Bernadette Mattox said. “We understand whatlevel the WNBA is on and for a college player to be able to participatesays a lot about their skills and talents.”
