Men's Golf

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team finished in 16th place with a team score of 919 at the Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.Va. this weekend.

Senior Ron Layman, who finished tied for 22nd with a three round total 10-over-par 223, led the Cats. Junior Wes Furnish was second for Kentucky with a total score of 232.

Other UK scores include sophomore John Beckett with a total of 233, junior Pat Kelly with a 234 total and freshman Andy Dustman, also with a 234 total.

Michigan won the tournament with a three round total of 877. The Wolverines were led by Mike Affeldt who finished in a tie for second place with a 4-over-par 217. Iowa’s Matt Stutzman took individual honors with his 1-over-par 214 performance.

The Cats are back in action April 21-23 when they compete in the 2000 Southeastern Conference Championships in Oxford, Miss.
