UK senior claims top spot in javelin with career-best toss.
AUSTIN, Texas (April 7, 2000) — The University of Kentucky finished up day three of theTexas Relays Friday with another first-place finish as senior Beth Burkettclaimed the top spot in the javelin throw.Burkett’s throw of 150-05.00 was the best in Section B of the event by morethan three feet. It was also the best throw of her career placing her thirdon the UK all-time list, surpassing her previous personal-best establishedin 1998.
In the triple jump, junior Falana Greenwell brought home seventh inSection B. Already an NCAA outdoor provisional qualifier in this event,Greenwell finished Friday with a top leap of 41-02.50. Freshman SemideleAdeagbo was not far behind with a ninth-place jump of 40-06.00.Freshman Janet Crawford tied for ninth place in Section B of the high jumpwith a leap of 5-06.00. The jump tied her outdoor seasonal best, which shealso achieved at the Hurricane Classic on March 18.
Kentucky finishes up competition Saturday, April 8, with the men’s highjump and the women’s triple jump (Section A) beginning at 10 a.m. EST.
