LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team is in seventh place after two rounds of competition on Friday in the Johnny Owens Invitational tournament. The Cats moved up six places in the second round after finishing 13th after the first round.
Junior Pat Kelly, who shot a 4-over-par 148 to place him in a tie for 11th, led the Cats. Other UK golfers include senior Ron Layman with a 149, junior Wes Furnish with a 154, sophomore John Beckett with a 155 and freshman Andy Dustman with a 156.
Members of the UK golf team competing as individuals include Ryan Coyne with a 7-over-par 151, Ryan Wilson with a 9-over-par 153, Ryan Rieckhoff with a 10-over-par 154, Bradley Pogue with a 159 and Phillip Schardein with a 3-over-par 147 and a seventh place standing. Marshall leads all teams after shooting an 11-over-par 587. Marshall was led by Sam O’Dell, who shot a 4-under-par 140 to lead all competitors. Morehead State’s Matt Hermann and Western Kentucky’s Eric Mason tied for second with a 1-under-par 143.
Competition concludes with Saturday’s final round, which is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. EST.
