TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The UK women’s tennis team rebounded from a 5-1shellacking at the hands of Auburn on Friday, posting a convincing 6-3victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sunday.The Cats(8-6 won four of six singles matches and two of three doublescontests to cruise to the victory. UK got singles wins from sophomoresCarolina Mayorga and Lauren Rookledge, junior Brooke Skeen and freshmanJill Buckley. Rookledge got her fourth singles victory in a row and has notlost in singles since falling to 84th-ranked Annie Plessinger on March 7.
The Wildcats also dominated doubles play taking the No. 2 and No. 3matches. UK’s 46th-ranked team of Skeen and freshman Leigh Bradwell wonhandily over Weyli Chang and Stefanie Leung, 8-2, while Rookledge andBuckley joined forces to cruise to an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles spot.
The tennis Cats, who began their road trip on Thursday, will now travel toBaton Rouge to take on the 31st-ranked LSU Tigers on Tuesday, March 21. Thematch is set to begin at 3 p.m.
