CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Senior Matt Kavanagh and junior Falana Greenwellnotched NCAA outdoor provisional qualifying marks Saturday, March 18 at theHurricane Invitational at the University of Miami.

Kavanagh claimed second place in the hammer throw with a toss of 207-10.00to establish a provisional mark in the first outdoor meet of the season.That toss was more than 23 feet further than the third-place finisher andonly 5-02 behind first place.

Greenwell got her provisional mark in winning the triple jump. Her leap of42-00.75 surpassed both the second-place finisher and the minimumprovisional mark by more than eight inches. It was also good enough tosurpass her outdoor personal best by nearly three feet.

Overall, the Cats had 19 top-5 finishes that included additionalfirst-place times/marks from freshman Elizabeth Kittredge in the polevault, junior Andrew Vander Wagen in the high jump and senior Jeff Limpertin the 800 meters. Coming in just behind first-place were freshman JanetCrawford in the high jump and senior Roshell Russell in the 400 meters.

Kentucky also claimed multiple top-five finishers in a few events. In thewomen’s 100-meter high hurdles, junior Michelle Williams took third placewith Temitayo Adeagbo coming in fourth. Junior Shevan Threats came in twospots behind Greenwell in the triple jump, while freshmen Thomas Morgan andHunter Spencer took fourth and fifth places, respectively, in the 3,000meters.

UK has a two-week layoff before retaking the track when they travel toAuburn, Ala., for a Southeastern Conference Quad meet with Auburn,Tennessee and Florida on Saturday, April 1, 2000.
