LEXINGTON, Kty. – Jimmy Robinson, a senior wide receiver on the Kentucky football team,along with junior running back Derek Homer, will be the featured speakersat a middle school “lock-in” event Friday evening at Lexington’s Micro-City Government Building.
Approximately 150 students from Winburn, Tates Creek, Crawford, and MartinLuther King middle schools are expected to attend the lock-in. The eventwill begin at 7 p.m. Friday and conclude Saturday at 7 a.m. Activitiesinclude educational workshops, a talent show, and dance. Robinson andHomer will speak to the students Friday at 7:30 p.m.
In addition to the speaking engagement by Robinson and Homer, severalother UK football and volleyball players are scheduled to attend theevents. The lock-in is organized by the Americorps “Athletes in Service toAmerica” project, with help from UK’s “Cats That Care” community serviceprogram, according to Shelly Bowie-Bryant, UK Athletics’ Community OutreachCoordinator.
