Track and field prepares for the Kroger Invitational.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky Track and Field team heads to Virginia for theVirginia Tech Kroger Invitational, Feb. 11-12.
The meet gets underway Friday at 5 p.m. and continues Saturday at 10 a.m.
The Cats will battle their toughest competition this season when they facenationally ranked squads from Clemson, South Carolina and Tennessee. Alsocompeting this weekend will be over 80 national and world-classpost-collegiate athletes.
Matt Kavanagh will see action Friday in the weight throw. The senior hasalready provisionally qualified for NCAA competition with a throw of65-02.00, which he achieved in December. On Saturday, junior AndrewVanderWagen will take the field in the high jump to attempt to improve onhis NCAA provisional height of 7-01.00. In addition, junior Shevan Threatswill attempt to win her sixth consecutive long jump.
