ATHENS, Ga. – Three members of University of Kentucky women’s tennis team advanced to the round of sixteen at Georgia led by junior Brooke Skeen, who scorched fifth-seeded Ivana Belancic from Mississippi State in the second round, 6-1, 6-1.

Freshman Leigh Bradwell and sophomore Lauren Rookledge also earned spots in the tournament’s final sixteen. Bradwell, who received a first-round bye, defeated Brenau College’s Libby Fletcher, 6-1, 7-6 (4). Rookledge claimed a 6-0, 6-0, victory over Georgia Southern’s Ella Reilly in the first round and trounced Georgia State’s Ramsey Roberts, 6-0, 6-1, to advance to the third round.

Skeen’s upset over Belancic was “her biggest win to date” according to UK coach Mark Guilbeau. The junior advanced to the third round and will face Zoe Mellis from host Georgia.

Freshman Amy Trefethen and Jill Buckley were eliminated in the first round, however the two will team together in doubles on Saturday morning.

Third round singles will begin Saturday 8 a.m.
