LEXINGTON, Kty. — University of Kentucky men’s soccer coach Ian Collins has been namedMid-East Region Coach of the Year, the National Soccer Coaches Associationof America announced on Tuesday.

The award marks the second coaching honor of the year for Collins, whoguided the Cats to their first conference crown and NCAA Tournament berthin 1999, as he was also tabbed Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year.

“It’s always nice to be recognized by your colleagues,” Collins said. “Butthe award is a tribute to the hard work done by Assistant Coach Jeff Chaneyand our players.”

Collins is now one of 10 coaches up for National Coach of the Year honors,which will be awarded at the NSCAA Convention, Jan. 14-16, in Baltimore, Md.
