LEXINGTON, Kty. — The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team tied a program record onFriday, placing three players on the National Soccer Coaches Association ofAmerica’s All-Mid-East Region team.

For the second consecutive season, Wildcats Lee Baker, Giovanni Fernandesand Ilkka Jantti were selected to the 33-member squad.Baker, a senior from Spring, Texas, led the Cats in scoring this seasonwith seven goals and eight assists. Fernandes, from Cricuma, Brazil,tallied two game-winning goals during his junior campaign, while Jantti, asophomore defender from Lahti, Finland, helped anchor a UK defense whichallowed less than one goal per match.

“We’re happy that our players are being recognized on this level,” UKCoach Ian Collins said. “Lee had an amazing career here at UK, and Ilkkaand Gio just continue to improve.”

Since 1993, UK has placed 15 players on the NSCAA Regional squad.
