The 14th-ranked University of Kentucky women’s soccer team will face offagainst the Georgia Bulldogs in the first round of the SEC Tournament onThursday, Nov. 4, at 2:30 p.m. in Nashville, Tenn.

UK (16-2-1) defeated then 12th-ranked UGA, 4-1, on Sept. 26 inLexington. After falling behind 1-0 early in the game, the Cats reeled offfour unanswered goals and pounded the visiting Dawgs as UK’s Annie Gagescored two goals, including the game-winner, while freshman ElizabethRamsey added three assists.

UGA, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, won its final four games of theregular season, including a 11-0 victory against South Alabama. The Dawgsfinished the regular season fifth in the SEC Eastern Division.

The Dawgs are led by sophomore Amy Berbary and defender Carolyn Cayard.Berbary leads UGA (13-5-1, 5-4) in scoring with seven goals and 17 points.She has also tallied three assists with a game-winning goal. Cayard, asecond team All-SEC selection, is fourth on the team in scoring with 13points and has scored five goals with three assists. She has started all 19games for UGA this season.

Goalkeeper Nicole Williams, selected to the All-SEC second team, recordeda league-high 12 shutouts, including eight consecutive shutouts to startthe season. Williams has made 85 saves and owns an impressive 0.81goals-against average.

UK is currently on a 15-game winning streak with its last lost dating backto Sept. 10, when the Cats lost to Florida 2-1 in Gainesville, Fla. TheCats need two wins to break the school record for wins in a season. Gagecontinues to lead UK in scoring with 14 goals and 36 points this season,both single-season school records.

The winner of the UK-UGA match will advance to face the winner of the No.2 Ole Miss- No. 7 Tennessee game in the first semifinal Friday at 3:30 p.m.The SEC Championship will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, and willbe televised live by Fox Sports South.
