TAMPA, Fla. — University of Kentucky of freshman Andy Dustman shot a first-round68 on Monday at the Gary Koch Invitational, but fell to 14th place afterscoringa 79 in the day?s second round. Dustman?s two-round total of 147 paced theCats, but the team stands in 9th place, 29 strokes off the pace after posting a36-hole round of 605.
Tennessee leads the field with an opening-day round of 584. EricLebitzke is the individual leader after notching a 70 and 69 for a five-under139.
Dustman is the only UK golfer to post two sub-70 rounds this season ashe also carded a 69 on Oct. 11 at the Xavier Invitational. Wes Furnish is theonly other Cat to break 70 this fall, shooting a 69 on Oct. 18 at theUniversity of Louisville Intercollegiate.
If the Cats hope to improve their standing on the tourney?s final day,they will need a more balanced attack as no golfer outside of Dustman broke 150on Monday.
