The Louisville Cardinals scored an upset win over theUniversity of Kentucky men’s soccer team on Sunday, topping the Cats 2-0 atthe UK Soccer Complex.

Louisville’s first goal came at the 18:29 mark off a free kick. UL’sStuart Langrish struck the kick off UK’s defensive wall, and as the ballricocheted back toward the midfield, Langrish kicked the rebounding ball into the UK nets to give the Cards a 1-0 lead.

The Cats continued to press throughout the match, racking up a12-6 shot advantage, including a blast by Brent Rainey which hit the ULpost late in the first half.

After UK removed most of its defenders and went into an all-out attack,Louisville’s Greg Campbell netted a final score at the 84:58 mark to icethe Cardinal win.

With the victory, the Cardinals move to 6-6-2, while the Cats fall to 9-5-1.UK returns to Mid-American Conference play on Friday, Oct. 29, when theCats travel to DeKalb, Ill., to face Northern Illinois at 3 p.m.
