TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Kentucky Lady Tennis Cats took a bite out of thecompetition on Friday, as four Wildcats advanced at the SEC Fall Tournamentin Tuscaloosa, Ala.

In the “A” flight, UK’s Carolina Mayorga and Brooke Skeen advanced toSaturday’s round of 16. Mayorga received a first-round bye and thentrounced South Carolina’s Lynn Yin Tan, 6-0, 6-2 in round two. Skeensecured two wins to reach the third round, topping Arkansas’ Adriana Lopez,6-3, 6-4, in the opener and LSU’s Mandy Rice, 6-3, 6-0, in the secondround. UK’s Sarah Witten also claimed one win on the day, beating Florida’sJulia Scaringe, 6-4, 6-4, before falling to South Carolina’s Tamara Sutton,6-4, 6-4.

Wildcat freshman Jill Buckley scored the upset of the day in the “B”flight, blasting No. 1 seed Lauren Rose of Vanderbilt, 6-1, 6-1, to reachthe quarterfinals. Also in the final eight is UK’s Leigh Bradwell, a 6-3,6-4 winner over Tennessee’s Catherine Hall in round one and a 6-4, 6-2winner over Erin Fedas of LSU in round two.

The Cats return to action on Saturday with the tournament running throughthe weekend.
